The airship Aurora is not a "character," per se, however, it holds a position of distinction in the series, "The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne," for without the Aurora our valiant crew would find their avenues to adventures severely restricted!

The Aurora is the world's first dirigible airship, complete with an armory, a functional kitchen, a library, open deck, observation bridge, staterooms and even a workshop in which Passepartout and Jules Verne have been known to cobble together all manner of ingenious devices.

Fogg obtains ownership of the Aurora at the opening of the series, though it becomes clear that his winning of the ship in a wager was a carefully orchestrated scheme on the part of the British government. Queen Victoria wishes to keep Fogg, a former Secret Service agent and indispensable asset to the crown, near at hand.

Fogg initially intends to use the dirigible to travel the world, visiting the famous casinos of Europe while gambling and drinking his way though a life of leisure. However, thanks to the escapades of Jules Verne and his cousin Rebecca Fogg, events rarely proceed as he planned.

Instead, the Aurora becomes the home away from home for Fogg and company, providing transportation for Rebecca while on missions to exotic locals, a haven for the weary adventures, a means of both pursuit and escape, and, incidentally, a gateway to adventure!
