Phileas and his old friend, Count Kugarin, meet every three years to wager on competitive feats of daring and dexterity.
However, this time the Russian Count has a hidden agenda. He intends to overthrow the Russian Tsar, and he needs his old friend's dirigible to do so.
While Kugarin and Phileas wager for the Aurora, Verne eagerly
offers to assist with a rocket the Count's men are building, only to discover, too late, that the rocket has a far more nefarious purpose.
Meanwhile, Rebecca investigates mysterious mirrors, and Passepartout gets
a taste of what it means to be a serf under the Count's "protection".
